Goodwill Offers Donation Pickup Service
Many people throughout Central Illinois
generously donate to Goodwill. This means they’re supporting their community by
helping fund the many free Goodwill programs. But sometimes their generosity is
so great that their donation won’t fit in the car. That’s why Goodwill created GoodMoves.
Goodwill now offers a pickup service for
furniture, estate sales and even garage sales. Some restrictions apply and the
service is not yet available in every zip code within Goodwill of Central
Illinois’ territory.
GoodMoves is also perfect for those who are
downsizing. From the tiny house movement to inspiration from TV shows like
“Tidying Up with Marie Kondo,” downsizing isn’t just for empty nesters anymore.
Many people are trying to simplify their lives by getting rid of material
possessions. Are you simply moving and think it’s a good time for new
furniture? Maybe you just want a fresh start with less clutter. GoodMoves might
be able to help.
Donating to Goodwill supports your community
in many ways. First, all the services offered by Goodwill are free. They
include a job placement program, veterans’ support services, a 15-bedroom
veterans’ home and a youth mentoring program. Goodwill also employs more than
300 people throughout Central Illinois and is a CARF accredited organization.
Finally, by donating to Goodwill you are preserving the planet. In 2018
Goodwill recycled nearly 3 million pounds of textiles, metal, paper and
electronics. Like being green? Shopping at Goodwill is recycling. When someone
donates clothing and that clothing ends up in your wardrobe, you’re recycling.
